Guanajuato Fire Investigation Results
We received an update about the explosion and fire at the AirBNB in Guanajuato. The owner sent us a copy of the official investigation report.
The explosion was not caused by a gas leak. There was a cell phone left charging overnight. The phone’s battery overheated and exploded, starting the flammable furniture and curtains on fire. Then someone opened a door causing a rush of oxygen and a backdraft (which was the big boom we heard).
Last Full Day in Guanajuato
Today was our last full day in Guanajuato. Hard to believe two months have passed. It was a great experience. Now we begin the long trek home. Friday we will move to a hotel near the airport, we have a morning flight on Saturday, then the train back to Oregon on Sunday. Not sure if we remember where we live anymore.
Purple Trees
Over the last few weeks, one type of tree has bloomed pretty purple flowers. The color in the picture doesn’t do it justice.
There aren’t a lot of flat, open places for kids to ride bikes. Here is the park we frequent for waking and sitting. Someone rents bikes to kids (and adults) for riding around the park. There’s also occasionally a guy who’ll pull people around like a train using his ATV.
