Seattle 9/2026

September 20-23, 2026

We haven’t been to Seattle in a while, and the weather was looking nice, so we did a short trip to visit a few of our favorite restaurants and watch a Mariners game.

On the day we arrived, we went straight to Gorditos for burritos. This used to be our “last meal on Earth” place. Unfortunately, it changed ownership sometime since we were last there and the flavor has disappeared.

We walked around Green Lake for a while, which was very busy. It was a beautiful day in Seattle; 70, sunny and a Sunday at the end of Summer, so everyone was outside. On other days, we walked a portion of the Burke-Gilman Trail and in the Arboretum.

We stopped at the Scandinavian Specialty Shop for some Verdens Beste Kake (Norwegian for “World’s Best Cake”). It is really good, I’d say the best cake that doesn’t contain chocolate.

On Monday, in the morning we went to Third Place Books. Afterward, we went to see Snoqualmie Falls (not too impressive this late in the year). This was one of the locations used in the filming of Twin Peaks. We had lunch at the Snoqualmie Casino Buffet (which was pretty good).

In the evening we took a ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston and back, just for fun.

At night we had ice cream at Molly Moon, which was average

The next day we had lunch at Gyro Delight, which was very good.

Then we took the light rail downtown. We browsed Pike Place Market. We had ice cream at Hellenika, which was again just average.

We also went to the MOPOP (museum of pop culture). This place used to be called the Experience Music Project and was all about music, now it seems to have mostly movie props.

The museum is at the Seattle Center, which is also the location of the Space Needle

At night we went to a Mariners game. We haven’t been here since they changed the name from Safeco Field to T-Mobile Park. The pink lights on the roof are new with the name change. The Mariners lost to Houston 7-0.

On the last day we stopped at Delfino’s for Chicago-style pizza.

On the drive home we stopped at the Pacific Bonsai Museum in Federal Way. It’s a good place to stretch your legs on a long driving day.

We also stopped at Oh My Gelati in Oregon City for some frozen custard. Yumm.
