I forgot to mention the things we did not stop to see while driving through New Brunswick. We did not stop in Florenceville-Bristol (French fry capital of the world) to visit the potato museum. We also did not stop in Nackawic to see the world’s largest axe.
We did, last week, stumble past the world’s tallest ladder back chair while in Bennington, VT, but I assure you it was by accident.
Long driving day, about 480 miles and 10.5 hours later we are on Campobello Island, a summer resort for rich people and presidents, from the late 1800’s. There is an FDR house we will see tomorrow.
On our way from Quebec we stopped in Riviere-du-Loup to maybe see whales in the St. Lawrence (didn’t find a good location) and also in Grand Falls, NB for lunch and to view the town’s namesake falls (too late in the season, not much water was falling).
We are now in the Atlantic time zone, one hour ahead of Eastern time.
Not much excitement today. Walked more of Quebec’s old Town. Went to a museum. Ate food. Actually rested for a little while. Long driving day tomorrow to Campobello island, New Brunswick.
Drove to Quebec city this morning. Stopped at Montmorency Falls, just outside of the city. Walked around old Quebec. Sweated (was very hot today).
Rode the subway a lot today, they have a very well priced day pass. Did laundry at an actual laundromat, which required a subway ride. Went to a farmer’s market. Went to Ile Sainte-Helene to see the biosphere, which was the US pavilion for the 67 world’s fair. The acrylic panels burned away in a fire, so now it’s just a large jungle gym with a building inside. Ate dinner at Dunn’s, for a Montreal smoked meat sandwich and some poutine.
