We went to see the Canucks play the Minnesota Wild. The Canucks lost 4-2.
We had seats in the front row, right next to the visitor’s penalty box. When I bought the tickets, I didn’t even think about when the Super Bowl was, and when I finally realized that the Super Bowl was on the same day, I didn’t care, because how many teams repeat? Well the Seahawks managed to go to the Super Bowl for a second year in a row. This Canucks game started at noon, and we were originally planning on heading home after the game. But since our hometown team made it to the Super Bowl (kick off at 3:30 Pacific), we felt obligated to stay in Vancouver to watch. Unfortunately, Seattle lost the Super Bowl in the final seconds.
We had lunch in the stadium, at Steamer’s, for bacon wrapped hot dogs covered in cheese and onions. Not bad for stadium food. Dinner was at Dunn’s Famous Montreal Smoked Meat for poutine.
Front row ice level seats sounds impressive, but they really were kinda bad seats. The dividers that connect the glass panels, and the extra glass from the penalty box, really make for a wavy if not obstructed view. Sure, you are close to the action, but would you want to stand on the track at the Indy 500? You really need to be up a little to see the big picture.
