Laundry Room 11/22/07

We’ve missed a couple of months of local trips because we were redoing the laundry room. We replaced the hot water tank, (had it moved into the garage) and I didn’t like the look of our laundry room. The plumbing was run in the room, outside the walls! So I moved some plumbing and built a little half wall to make it look much nicer. We also got a new floor (Marmoleum). It’s a small room, so it was hard to take one picture that shows everything.

Before – you can see the plumbing vent running up the back wall. The incoming and outgoing pipes were visible behind the washer. During – the plumbing vent is now inside the wall. I also installed a laundry box for the hookups. I used to get in trouble when I was a kid if I wrote on walls. Now, it’s my house. After – I wanted a deep utility sink and couldn’t find a sink base that would fit in our room. So I built my own sink base with a sliding door. As you can see we are cramped for space, so I didn’t want a sink with a door that swings open. Be careful if you ever cut a preformed laminate counter top. I messed it up, but was able to recover with the counter being only a little shorter than planned. The color was supposed to be peach bordering on orange, but it is more orange bordering on peach. But it looks good in real life.
