Zip lining is where they strap a steel cable between 2 trees, hook you up to a harness, and you glide between the trees. You zip at speeds up to 40 mph and at heights up to 150 feet off the ground. The tour with Adrenaline Zipline Adventures is near Sooke, BC, about a half hour drive from Victoria. Their web site has more videos. This is extremely safe and a lot of fun. There are 2 tour guides for each group (our group had 8-10 people). The tour guides hook you up to the lines and make sure you are secure. You don’t have to touch anything, they handle it all – except pushing you off the platform. You have to take that first step on your own. This is way safer than the luge I did in Calgary a few years ago. In fact, the ride up to the top of the hill in the ATV felt less safe than the zip line.

Here’s Denise in action.

Here’s Ed in action.

Here are 2 videos of Denise.

http://hovorka.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/dzip1.mp4

http://hovorka.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/dzip2.mp4

In the afternoon we drove up the west coast of the island.
