We planned on going to Neah Bay and Cape Flattery this year, the Northwestern most point in the lower 48 states, but there was a big storm last weekend with flooded rivers and mudslides, so we thought we’d stay a little closer to home. Since we haven’t been to the top of the Space Needle in Seattle yet, now seemed like a good time to do so.<\/p>\n
We had dinner reservations downtown at an overpriced fancy-pants restaurant (Dahlia Lounge), so we went to the Space Needle before dinner.\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>Seattle with Mount Rainier in the background \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>The view down \"\"<\/a>Pictures from the observation deck \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>The top of the Space Needle gets lit up like a Christmas tree for the holiday. The Space Needle isn’t leaning, even though it looks that way. I had to put my camera down on a solid surface because it was so dark, I couldn’t hold it still long enough for the picture to turn out. \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>Sunset from the Space Needle \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>I tried taking some pictures of us together, and luckily someone offered to take our picture, as I wasn’t getting very close by myself. I just have to remember to not be talking next time. \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>The Olympic Mountains \"\"<\/a>Rather than move the car, battle traffic and try to find a parking space, we took the monorail to dinner. \"\"<\/a>As I mentioned before, dinner was at the Dahlia Lounge, famous for their crab cakes, which Denise had. I had the Peking duck. It was good, but way overpriced. For that kind of money, I expect my stomach to be so full that I can’t walk, or I want to eat something extremely tasty that I can’t get anywhere else (like Ricobene’s, which costs me two airplane tickets every year)<\/p>\n
Just for fun, some Christmas decorations on the house. I rebuilt the bears this year because they kept falling over and breaking. So far so good, they survived the big wind storm from last week without any problems. \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
