We haven’t gone on a local trip in a while, so we decided to head to the Pacific coast and Ocean Shores, WA for a weekend. There’s not much to see or do in Ocean Shores. When you picture an ocean beach in your head, you probably think golden sand, deep blue water and light blue sky. Well, Ocean Shores in the spring is gray sand, gray water, gray skies, with a light drizzle and a lot of wind. Someday we’ll come here in the winter when a storm is rolling in off the Pacific. The ocean swells can top 20 feet high.<\/p>\n
We strolled around town, stood on the beach for a little while, and ate some food. If you are looking to eat fish & chips, skip Galway’s (an Irish pub right when you enter town) and go straight to Bennett’s Fish Shack. Bigger portion, less money, way better taste.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, we drove up to the Olympic National Park and did some light hiking to see some water falls. We had lunch at the Lake Quinault Lodge. Overpriced food, nice view.<\/p>\n
Here’s the beach. \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>These crazy little birds kept running into the water, then running away from it. There must have been some kind of food in the waves. \"\"<\/a>There is some scrub land between the beach and the hotels. \"\"<\/a>The town doesn’t have much to see. One T-Shirt\/Trinket shop was called Sharky’s. \"\"<\/a>Lunch in the Roosevelt Room at the Lake Quinault Lodge in the Olympic National Park \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a>Some easy hikes to some small waterfalls. \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
