Had dinner at Gasthaus zum Ochsen in Rust. Denise had Hausgemachte Käsespätzle, homemade noodles fried with cheese, bacon and onions. I had Delikater Bauernschmaus, potato wedges fried with bacon, salami, sausage, green onions, egg, and cheese. It was very good. Large portions too, maybe because we were Americans. When the owner seated us, he started whistling the US national anthem. His daughter was sent to our table to take our order because she just spent a year in the US. In fact, she was in Olympia Washington. Funny that she knew were Olympia was, but not Bacharach Germany. Very nice people.

Made it to Rust
Made it to Rust, Germany as planned. It’s hot here, i haven’t seen a thermometer, but the hotel has AC.
Tomorrow’s travel plan
Tomorrow we go to Rust, Germany, home of Europa Park. We will be riding roller coasters on Wednesday. It is not on a direct train route from here, so we will be taking 4 trains and 1 bus. Wish us luck.
The Rhine
A view while sitting on a bench along the Rhine. It got me thinking. This region has many castles along the river. The castles were built because the Rhine was used to transport goods, and each castle would string a chain across the river to stop boats so taxes could be collected. As I walked around town looking for a free wifi spot, I found a lot of access points, but none were free. So the chains are gone along the river, but they’ve been thrown across the Internet.
