The number one place in Florence for a sandwich is All’ antico Vinaio, as rated on TripAdvisor. We got there 15 minutes before they opened for lunch, and were behind only 3 people. The picture below is from late afternoon on the previous day. We walked past this place twice and there was a huge line both times. The sandwiches are so fresh the line pauses waiting for more focaccia bread to come out of the oven. We both had porchetta.

Small museum containing some cool inlaid marble tables and art.
The Duomo Museum contains a bunch of original items from the church and also models of the “new” façade. It also contains the baptistry doors and Michelangelo’s pietà, one of, if not his last sculpture.
The Duomo, or big church, was started in 1296 and completed in 1436, but the current façade is from the 19th century.
Under the dome
Today we went to the Pitti Palace, former home of bigwigs (Medici, Napoleon) now a large museum. No pictures allowed. The museum contains paintings, sculptures, jewelry and has a garden. After lunch (pizza again!) we went to the Galileo Museum, which allows pictures but I didn’t take any with my phone. The Galileo Museum has old science equipment, including a couple of Galileo’s telescopes and his finger. I still need to lookup the how and why of the finger. It was a cool museum. Dinner was at a Chinese restaurant, which had European sized portions, but tasted really good.
