In February and March, we took a two month trip to Guanajuato city in Mexico.  This wasn’t a vacation.  It was an experiment to see what it would be like to live in another country.  The plan was to live like locals as much as possible (without knowing much Spanish).  We rented an apartment through Airbnb. We bought fruit and vegetables at the local market next door. We bought hot and fresh tortillas from the tortilleria across the street.  We shopped at the local supermarkets for most things.  We cooked at home 3 or 4 times a week.  We did laundry.  We read books, watched hockey, walked around the city; normal everyday things.

In 2018 we went to Mexico for 2 weeks.  When we were in San Miguel de Allende, we took a day trip to the city of Guanajuato.  We only spent about 4 hours in Guanajuato, but immediately knew we wanted to spend more time there.  Guanajuato is high in the central mountains and has fairly consistent temperatures year round, warm days and cool nights.  It seemed like a good place to stay for two months, two winter months in the U.S.

Most of the good pictures and stories are in the blog, Mexico 19.  Here I will post some extra pictures.
