This morning we went to the ruins of the Sutro Baths, located on the west side of SF, along the Pacific coast. The building here housed 7 indoor swimming pools. Built in the late 1800’s, it burned down in the 1960’s. We weren’t sure how good the view of the Pacific Ocean would be, as there was a lot of fog this morning. We went anyway and the skies cleared while we were there.

This is the west end of Golden Gate Park, and the beach at the Pacific Ocean.

The oldest building in San Francisco is the Mission Dolores, from 1776.

Lunch was at the excellent sandwich shop, Ike’s Place in the Castro District.

After lunch we went to the Cartoon Art Museum and it was boring. If you’re into comic books/graphic novels, then maybe you should go here. I wasn’t that excited by the place.

There were originally 8 cable car companies and around 20 lines. Now there are 4 lines. The pictures below are from the cable car museum. These are the working cables that power the existing cable cars.
