Day 2 - Sep 2, 2008 Last updated: 9/7/08 12:00am PT
Day 2 began with a walking tour/history lesson of Victoria. We took the Victoria Bobby Walking Adventures tour. The tour is led by a former English Bobby. Make sure to pay attention, he will quiz you. (the answers are Ottawa and 1871)
We saw this interesting old drinking fountain. The upper left and right are for the horses, the middle for people, and the lower left and right for dogs and pigs.
The biggest tourist attraction near Victoria is the Butchart Gardens. I think you really need to be excited by flowers to enjoy this place. It is a former limestone quarry that was converted to a garden by the quarry owner’s wife, starting over 100 years ago. There are 70 full time gardeners maintaining this place, and it shows. There isn’t one single blade of grass out of line. Denise liked the flowers in the last two pictures, so I expect to see those at the house next summer.
