We are headed to Europe.
We are going to London, Rome, Florence and Venice, with various side trips. The plan is to post some comments and pictures here daily. I’m not planning on working on the blog as much as I did last time. I spent too much time on it in ’09.
We are starting in London. Our niece Carrie (http://somewhereinlondon13.blogspot.com/) is in London for a semester abroad from Notre Dame. We will be visiting with her for a few days, flying to Rome for a week, then taking the train north to Florence, with side trips to Lucca and Pisa, and then on to Venice before flying back to London for a few more days.
In Rome, the Pope is screwing up some of our plans. The last Pope that resigned was imprisioned and banished to Hell. Sounds like they’re going to let this guy off a little easier. Conclave will probably start the week we are in Rome, so the Vatican will probably be a place to avoid. I don’t need to stand around with a million people waiting to see the white smoke.
