Our niece Chrissy is studying abroad near Barcelona, and we used that as an excuse to tour Spain and see a little of Portugal. Since there are no non-stop flights from Seattle to Barcelona, we flew in to London and spent a couple of nights there before flying to Barcelona. After visiting with Chrissy for a few days, we went to Madrid, Gibraltar, Málaga, Granada, Córdoba, Lisbon, then back to Barcelona. After which we flew back to London for a couple more nights before the long flight home.

Again, we packed light. We each had our backpacks filled with the bare minimum. I think we took even less than last time. Last time we went in March, so we needed extra cold weather gear which was not needed this time. Also, four years later, the electronics are smaller and lighter. And we did laundry more often, which wasn’t a problem.

The weather was pretty good in Spain, maybe a little too warm and too sunny. Spain has a large yellow ball in the sky that we don’t have in Seattle. It seemed hot only a few days, but mostly it was pleasant. We experienced a little light rain at times in Lisbon and London. Heavy rain one night in Barcelona and one day in Lisbon.
