Europe 2017

Day 1 - Oct 17-18, 2017

The flight to London from Seattle is 9+ hours, and left on Oct 17th and arrived Oct 18th. We sprung for the lay-down seats on the way to London and just the wider/roomier seats on the way home. It’s still hard to sleep on a plane, even if you are laying down. And those lay-down seats weren’t designed for people over 6 feet tall, but they were still pretty nice.

On arrival in London, we went to the hotel and took showers. Then we went straight to Masters Superfish for dinner. It was awesome as usual. See web pages from 2009 and 2013 for pictures. We forced ourselves to stay awake to help avoid the jet lag (which was ultimately unavoidable).

We stayed north of Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. Our hotel building was so old, the floors were slanted. This didn’t seem like a problem until you got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Walking on a slanted floor in the dark when you are drowsy causes you to walk on an angle to the right, forcing you to bounce into the wall.
