Day 6 - Sep 4, 2014 Last updated: 9/17/14 8:00pm PT
We bought a subway day pass because we were traveling a little farther afield today. A 1 day pass is only $10, which becomes beneficial when you ride more than three times. We rode the subway to do laundry (we needed to use real machines and there wasn’t a laundromat near the hotel). Afterwards, we went to the farmer’s market (Jean-Talon) for lunch.
We also took the subway to Île Sainte-Hélène, an island that has a theme park and was the site of the World’s Fair in 1967. The Biosphere was the pavilion of the United States, a geodesic dome that had acrylic tiles, but those melted in a fire in the ’70s. Now the building inside the dome is an environmental museum.
The skyline of Montreal from the island (Montreal is an island too)
Dinner was at Dunn’s Famous Smoked Meat. Tastes a little like corned beef. I had the poutine with smoked meat and Denise had the sandwich. It was good.
