Day 13 - Mar 17, 2013 Last updated: 4/6/13 5:00pm PT
The Pitti Palace is a large palace that once was the living accommodations for the Medici family. Now it’s a museum that does not allow pictures.
We went to the Galileo Museum which was pretty cool. It has a lot of old scientific equipment and other science related material, and also two of Galileo’s fingers and a tooth. Apparently, three of Galileo’s fingers and a tooth were removed from his body when it was moved in 1737 (he died in 1642). I have no idea where the third finger is.
Galileo’s telescopes from 1610.
Two of his fingers.
Calculating machines from 1664.
