Day 16 - Mar 20, 2013 Last updated: 4/7/13 2:00pm PT
Today was a travel day, a 2 hour train ride from Florence to Venice. In Venice, we took the vaporetto (water bus) to our hotel from the train station. It was a pleasant 45 minute ride down the Grand Canal. Our hotel was steps away from St. Mark’s Square. We spent the afternoon wandering around. We tried getting lost, but I can’t stand not knowing where I am, so I kept looking on the map. Venice is a tangled mess of streets. It’s real easy to get lost, but you’re on an island, so there is only so far you can go.
Wandering around, we only hit one dead-end. We did loop around a couple of times, wondering how we ended up walking in a circle.
The Rialto Bridge is supposed to be romantic. It’s not. It’s crowded and has plenty of graffiti.
A vaporetto going the other way.
Some of the paths between buildings are quite narrow.
